Jonathan Finighan

Principal, Consulting (VIC)

At SVA I get to help awesome people who are trying to do good in the world.

Jonathan is a Principal in the Consulting team, having joined SVA in 2016 and has almost 20 years’ experience in the non-profit and philanthropy sectors in the UK and Australia.

He is a leader in SVA’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) practice, leading many of our evaluations of large and complex government programs, helping small non-profits to take their first steps to measure their outcomes, and delivering training in MEL for our new starters. He also has a passionate interest in the relational work of group facilitation and place-based approaches. Key clients have included Australian Unity, Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, NIAA, Department of Social Services, Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa and Beyond Blue.

Prior to SVA he worked with Firetail Ltd, a London-based consulting firm, as a MEL Consultant where he led mixed-methods and quasi-experimental program evaluations of development programs with smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan African countries. He has also held roles with New Philanthropy Capital, Forests Philanthropy Action Network and FARM Africa.

He as a MSc Environmental Technology from Imperial College London.
