Response to the Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools
SVA’s submission to the Review makes the case for an independent evidence broker to make sure investments in education programs are evidence-based.
SVA advocated for the establishment of an independent ‘evidence broker’ to optimise government investments in education. The document recommends that:
- This body would synthesise knowledge, support evidence-based practices, and enhance decision-making to ensure effective use of education funds and continuous improvement in student achievement.
- The proposed broker, modelled after the UK’s Education Endowment Foundation, would empower educators, facilitate evidence sharing, maintain updated international education evidence, assess program evidence, develop guides on high-impact interventions, commission research trials, and fund organisations promoting evidence-based approaches.
- This initiative requires the Australian Government’s support for its operation and long-term success.
