Submission to the Early Years Strategy Consultation
In this submission, SVA makes recommendations to the Commonwealth Government on the national leadership role it can take to ensure every child receives the right support to get the best start in life.
This submission to the Early Years Strategy, a federal piece of work from the Department of Social Services, begins with a compelling exploration of how the rates of inequities faced by kids haven’t shifted in over a decade.
Three focus areas are highlighted for the Australian Government to take a national leadership role on:
- A call for a commitment for all children and families to be able to access the services and supports they need to thrive
- The establishment and implementation of accountability mechanisms to deliver on said commitment, with national standards, quality and equity in service delivery, and meaningful tracking of progress
- And strong stewardship for the system to successfully implement the Early Years Strategy – including through new and innovative funding approaches, investment in not just workforce but organisational capability, and enhancing the use of evidence to ensure every kid receives the support they need to get the best start in life.
