Zonta House Refuge Association is a specialist service that provides safety, essential relief and support to women who have experienced family and domestic violence (FDV).

Located in Perth, Western Australia, Zonta House has been providing services since 1984. It currently operates a suit of nine programs designed to meet the needs and wants of women, and the gaps in the community.

In 2022, Zonta House engaged SVA Consulting to conduct an organisation wide Social Return on Investment (SROI) evaluation to understand, measure and value the social and economic outcomes of its programs for women experiencing FDV, their children, the government and broader community.

The project

Zonta House commissioned SVA Consulting to assess the outcomes created by Zonta House’s activities using a Social Return on Investment (SROI) methodology to determine the socio-economic returns.

The objective

Zonta House wanted to increase its understanding of its impact, identify opportunities for improvement, and inform future funding and support for FDV victim and/or survivors.

The role we played

Working closely with Zonta House, we:

  • Produced a report that emphasised the stories of the women that Zonta House supports as well as the strong SROI that they deliver.
  • Developed an organisation wide logic model.
  • Conducted extensive stakeholder engagement and data analysis to understand Zonta House’s impact.
  • Calculated Zonta House’s SROI ratio.

Project impact

Zonta House increased its understanding of the ways that it impacts stakeholders and the scale of its impact. Its holistic, person-centred, and staged approach to supporting women who have experienced FDV was also validated. The SROI evaluation supports Zonta House to tell the stories of the women that it supports. Zonta House hopes this will drive further investment and support for FDV victim/survivors.
